Are you ready to shake your tail feathers? Are you ready to sing along? And most importantly, are you ready to face the love? Well the time has finally come. Over the past years the spring musical has always been one of the most anticipated and successful events in Monument Mountain, and this year’s will surely not be left behind.
As the final days finally close on in, the cast and crew of all shook up are on their toes as the tension of the final perfections are being made, and there is no room for error. “The last few weeks of musical is really stressful, but we all are going through it together so it really helps us come together as a cast. I think just joking around and having fun during rehearsals makes the whole process easier” says senior cast member Annarose Stewart. The final days also seem to create a lot of doubt, “these past couples of weeks have been stressful, and there were times when I wasn’t sure if we would have a show. But everything pulled together in the past week” says senior Corey Potter.
Although the tension is at its high point, the cast and crew are still extremely excited and anticipating the moment to share a completely different musical from the past few years. “My reaction was excitement because I knew a little bit about the show from friends who were in it over the summer and was immediately stoked to do a Rock N’ Roll genre musical” says junior Emily Perillo. “This musical is much bigger than the past musicals I have participated in. Almost every scene has a song and full dance number. This show is so different to any of the shows I have done at Monument” says Corey Potter.
Everyone who is a part of the musical has worked hard to prepare a show full of exciting dance scenes, interesting characters, happiness, and love, but in case the fact that this show will be featuring Elvis Presley’s most known songs doesn’t convince you, here’s a little hint hint from the cast- “Oh there are certainly surprises in this play (lots of surprise smooches!) but they wouldn’t be surprises if I told you them, would they? I would say just remember that sometimes this musical seems really predictable, but there are moments that will catch you off guard, so don’t assume you know what is going to happen next” says Perillo.
If you’re ready to take on the excitement and face the music come on out and see the show which primers Thursday March 29 at 7:30 and goes through Sunday April 1st. Tickets may be purchased ahead of time in the main office for $10. So come out and shake those tail feathers, fall in love, and sing along with cast and crew of MMRHS’s All Shook Up.
